Trading on Kraken’s trading interface, Kraken Terminal, provides integrated charting services, numerous technical indicators, and a streamlined interface for entering, cancelling and replacing orders. Below is a quick guide for how to use Kraken Terminal.
Kraken Terminal borrows its interface from our premium trading terminal, Cryptowatch. For help using Cryptowatch, check out Cryptowatch Guides.
The order form is on the top right of the screen (you may need to wait a few moments for the screen to finish loading before it becomes available).
If the order form is not visible, unhide it by clicking the vertical bars on the right side of the screen. The trading panel, depth chart and order book panels can all be hidden or displayed this way.
The order types and trading using margin work the same as they do in Kraken’s standard order forms.
Orders can be canceled from the Orders window found below the trading form. In this window, each order has a small x in the Cancel column. Clicking the x will remove the order completely.
Clicking on any order, either in the orders window or its location on the price chart, will open a summary of the order in place of the trading form. Below the summary are the options Back, Replace Order, and Cancel Order. Back returns to the trading form, and Cancel Order will remove the order from the order book.
To quickly change the parameters of your order, like the price or quantity, click on the Replace Order button. Your order’s parameters will populate the trading form — you can make as many or as few changes to the order as you like. Clicking the Replace Order button again will prompt you to confirm the details of your order before a change is made.
Another way to quickly change the price of your order is to click and drag the circle to a new price on the y-axis of the price chart. You need to have My Orders selected in the My Activity portion of the settings panel for the order’s circle to appear on the y-axis.
If you change an order using either method, the system will cancel the old order and replace it with a new one. The replacement order will have a unique order ID and the old one will update in your account with the Canceled status.
You can view recent orders, trades and open margin positions in the lower right of the screen (below the trading panel). Only recent activity is shown — to look further back into your order or trade history, you may have to sign in to your account on https://www.kraken.com.
Currency pairs are selected in the upper-left of the screen, below the Kraken logo.
Yes — it’s just as safe as trading on the old interface. Keep in mind that anyone who has access to your computer while you are signed in will be able to make trades on your account. When you are finished trading, be sure to click “Sign out” in the upper right of the screen.
No — you can sign in to kraken.com to launch the new interface, but once it is launched you do not need to stay signed in to kraken.com. When you are finished trading, be sure to click “Sign out” in the upper right of the screen.
You can sign in to Kraken Terminal directly from trade.kraken.com. Click the Connect button to sign in. You will be redirected to the Kraken sign-in portal, then back to Kraken Terminal.
Errors will appear in a window at the bottom-right corner of the interface. Error messages include a brief description and a number (the error code). If you receive an error while using Kraken Terminal, you can reference the error here: Kraken Terminal trading interface errors
It is possible to be signed in to the new and old trade interface at the same time. Orders or trades entered on one interface will take a short while to appear on the other interface. We recommend that you just trade on one interface at a time — preferably the new one!
Keep in mind that you can synchronize Kraken Terminal to your Kraken account at any time using the Sync button. This button is found in the top-right of the trading panel, next to the trade-settings cogwheel. Using the Sync button makes sure Kraken Terminal has your updated account information as you trade.
