USD Funding Guide

Funding your Kraken account with US Dollars (USD) is a key first step before you can buy, sell, or trade crypto on the platform. Once your account is verified, Kraken offers multiple secure ways to deposit USD. Each method has its own processing times, requirements, and notes to keep in mind, so it’s important to choose the option below that best suits your needs.
Please note:
Certain deposits, such as first time ACH purchases, Paypal deposits, debit or credit card purchases or digital wallet purchases will trigger a temporary (72 hour) withdrawal hold on the account, for security purposes.
PayPal
PayPal is an online payment system that supports online currency transfers. With PayPal you can securely deposit funds from your PayPal account to Kraken to make funding your account simple.
To use PayPal you must meet the following requirements:

Verification: Your Kraken account must be verified.
- •
You will be required to have a PayPal account.
- •
The name on your PayPal account must match the name on your Kraken account.
- •
PayPal is available to clients residing in the United States, United Kingdom, the European Economic Area (excluding Iceland, Hungary and Croatia), and Australia.
To fund your account with PayPal via the Kraken app:

Open the Kraken app and tap the Transfer button at the bottom of the screen.

Select Deposit.

Search for USD and select it.

If you have not yet connected your PayPal account to Kraken you will be redirected to sign into your PayPal account.

On your PayPal account click Save and Continue to connect your account to Kraken.
Once you have connected your PayPal account to Kraken you will be able to select it as a deposit method. - 6
On the Deposit Method screen select PayPal.

Enter the amount you wish to deposit.

Review the deposit information (such as the amount and fees), acknowledge that you will not be able to withdraw this deposit for 3 days by ticking the checkbox, and then tap Confirm.
To fund your account with PayPal via Kraken.com:

On the homepage of your account, click the Deposit button.

Select a cash currency in the Asset dropdown.

Under Deposit Method select PayPal.
If you have not yet connected your PayPal account to Kraken, click Connect PayPal.

You will be redirected to sign into your PayPal account. On your PayPal account click Save and Continue to connect your account to Kraken.
Once you have connected your PayPal account to Kraken you will be able to select it as a deposit method.

Back on Kraken, enter the amount you wish to deposit and click Deposit.

Confirm your deposit: review the deposit information and click Confirm deposit to continue.
As a reminder: For enhanced security, you won't be able to withdraw this deposit for three days.
Processing times for PayPal are near-instant. Once credited to your account, deposits are available instantly for trading and will be available to withdraw after 72 hours. Please note that the 72 hour withdrawal hold on withdrawals will apply to any assets in cash or cryptocurrency, equal to the deposited amount. The withdrawal hold does not apply to trading.
Fees will vary dependent on your region and are displayed on the final confirmation page.

Bank Frick
Bank Frick supports worldwide SWIFT deposits and withdrawals in USD.
Based in Liechtenstein, Bank Frick can be considered one of the most innovative banks in the region, offering services and solutions specifically tailored to crypto and blockchain businesses.
If required and shown in the deposit instructions, make sure your deposit includes a reference to your Kraken Public account ID which starts with AA and is 16 characters long to prevent delays.
ACH via Plaid
ACH deposits are available via Plaid with no processing fees. Plaid allows you to securely connect your bank account to Kraken to make funding your account easy.
The estimated processing time for ACH deposits through Plaid is up to five minutes. Once credited to your account, deposits are available instantly for trading and will be available to withdraw after seven days.
Please note that the seven day hold on withdrawals will apply to any assets in cash or cryptocurrency, equal to the deposited amount. The withdrawal hold does not apply to trading.
To fund your account using ACH via Plaid your Kraken account must meet the following requirements:

Your Kraken account must be verified.
- •
Your Kraken account must be located in the United States excluding Texas.
- •
The name on the bank account you are funding from must match the name on your Kraken account.
- •
Your bank must be located in the United States.
Ensure your bank supports Plaid. You will have a list of banks supported by Plaid to select from. If your bank is not on the list, Plaid is not available to you as of yet.
To fund your account using ACH via Plaid follow the steps below:

Sign in to your Kraken account and click on the Deposit button on your home page.

Search for US Dollar and click on it. The deposit method will already be selected as a Linked bank transfer, to connect to your bank, simply click Add new account.

You will be prompted to connect your bank account. Select your financial institution and follow the instructions provided by Plaid. (This process only needs to be completed once.)

Once the Plaid connection is complete, you'll notice on the Kraken deposit page that your bank account is automatically selected.
Type in the amount you'd like to deposit, and then click Deposit funds.

Lastly, from the review page, simply check the box after reading the disclaimer, and click Confirm deposit your instant deposit.

Congratulations, your deposit is complete! Your deposit should process within minutes, if you experience any delays please reach out to our support team.

From the Kraken App, tap the purple action button on the bottom of your screen. Then, tap Deposit.

Next, select US Dollar from the Deposit page.

Tap Linked bank transfer.

Next, tap Link account with Plaid on the bottom of the page to begin the connection to your bank.

Complete the steps provided by Plaid, and then you will be taken back to the Kraken App where you may begin your instant deposit. (This process only needs to be completed once.)

Once you are returned to the Kraken App, you may enter your desired deposit amount using the number pad. You'll notice your newly added bank is already selected for your deposit method.
Once you've entered the amount, tap on Review.

Lastly, from the Review page, simply check the box after reading the disclaimer, and swipe to confirm your instant deposit.

Congratulations, your deposit is complete! Your deposit should process within minutes.
Deposit fees and limits:

The minimum amount you can deposit to your Kraken account is 1 USD.
- •
ACH Plaid deposit limits will adjust automatically over time. Limits are based on a few factors, including but not limited to, your account activity and history. These limits cannot be increased manually or upon request.
- •
Deposit limits are on a weekly rolling basis.
- •
The number of successful deposits is limited on a 24-hour rolling basis.
