Please note:

What is Kraken Funded?

Kraken Funded lets you trade with Kraken's money instead of your own. Pay a challenge fee, take a trading challenge, and if you pass, you get to trade Kraken’s capital, withdrawing 80% of any profits whenever you want.

Kraken Funded is mobile-only and lives in its own dedicated tab inside your Kraken account, separate from the rest of your Kraken trading.

If the Kraken Funded tab is visible in your Kraken account, it's available to you.

There's one fee per challenge, paid up front:

  • $1,000 plan → $20

  • $5,000 plan → $50

  • $10,000 plan → $90

The challenge fee is non-refundable. It's the cost of entering a trading challenge, not an investment, not a deposit, and not held in a trading wallet on your behalf. The fee applies even if your challenge ends without a pass.

There are no other fees: no trading commissions during the challenge or in the funded state, and no withdrawal fees. If your challenge ends without a pass and you want to try again, you pay a new challenge fee at whichever tier you choose.

No catch. Kraken Funded is a performance-based program. The only money you risk is the challenge fee - pay it up front, take the challenge, and either you pass (and trade a funded account where you keep 80% of any profits) or you don't (and you're out the challenge fee). Your Kraken account balance stays untouched either way.

What Kraken Funded isn't:

  • Not borrowing. You're not taking out a loan, going into debt, or trading on margin. There's no interest, no credit check, and no liquidation of your personal assets.

  • Not a demo. The trading balance reflects real markets and real prices. The difference is whose capital is at stake (Kraken's, not yours).

  • Not at the expense of your Kraken balance. Kraken Funded is a separate offering in a separate tab. Your existing balance is untouched.

Your downside is capped at the challenge fee and known upfront. No bad surprises. Your upside on the funded account is uncapped; you keep 80% of any profits you make.

You pass by growing your starting trading balance by 12%. On a $1,000 plan, that means reaching $1,120. The challenge ends as soon as your balance hits the profit target, you don't need to hold or trade beyond that point.

There's no time limit and no minimum number of trades. Take as long as you need: a few days, a few weeks, or longer. How you trade is up to you.

There's no formal pause — but you don't need one. The challenge has no time limit, so just stop trading and pick up later. Your balance only moves when you hold crypto. Sell everything back to USD, and the challenge sits where you left it until you're ready to trade again.

Not while a challenge is active. Only one challenge can run at a time. To switch tiers, let your current challenge finish (the fee is non-refundable), then start a new challenge at whichever tier you want.

The challenge ends if your trading balance drops more than 5% from your starting balance. On a $1,000 plan:

  • Starting balance: $1,000

  • Max loss line: $950 (this never moves)

  • Profit target: $1,120 (+12%)

The max loss is always calculated against your starting balance, not your peak. If the balance hits that line at any point, even briefly, the challenge ends.

If that happens, you don't lose anything beyond the challenge fee you already paid.

You can start a new challenge whenever you're ready: same tier, smaller, or larger. A previous failed challenge has no effect on your eligibility.

When your balance hits the profit target, your challenge ends and you move into the funded state. Before you can start trading with Kraken's capital, you'll need to sign the Funded Trader Agreement. This is done directly in the app at the moment you pass. There's no separate email or external document to sign. The agreement is between you and Payward Oceanic Ltd (POL) and covers your performance fee (80% of the profits), withdrawal terms, and the max loss rule. Once complete, your funded account is active and you can start trading.

Kraken Funded supports 50+ major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other actively traded assets. The list is more curated than what's available across your Kraken account. You'll see exactly which assets are available inside the Kraken Funded tab.

It's been built so buying and selling feels exactly like trading anywhere else on Kraken. The asset list may vary slightly by region due to local availability rules.

You can withdraw profits from your funded account at any time. The starting trading balance stays with Kraken — it's the capital you trade with, not money you can withdraw. There's no minimum, no profit withdrawal fee, and you can request withdrawals as often as you like. We do our best to have the withdrawal land in your account within 24 hours.

Withdrawals are in USD, so sell any open crypto holdings first. Once you withdraw, 80% of your profits transfers to your Kraken account balance. Kraken keeps the remaining 20%.

Example: your $10,000 funded account grows to $10,500. That's $500 in profit. You withdraw $400 (80%); Kraken keeps $100 (20%). Your funded balance resets to $10,000 and you keep trading.

Yes. Profits already transferred to your Kraken account are yours to keep. They won't be taken back if your funded account later hits the max loss and closes.

If your funded account does hit the max loss, the funded account closes — but the profits you've already withdrawn stay with you, full stop.

Yes. The same 5% max loss rule from the challenge applies in the funded state too. If your funded balance drops more than 5% from where it started, the funded account closes.

If that happens, you'd need to buy a new challenge to start over. There's no penalty beyond losing access to the funded account, and it has no impact on your Kraken account balance. Any profits you've already withdrawn are unaffected.

You can stop at any time, there's nothing to formally close or cancel.

  • In Challenge: just stop trading. The challenge fee is non-refundable regardless of when you stop.

  • In Funded: the account stays open until the max loss line is hit If you have profits you haven't withdrawn yet, withdraw them before you stop.

You can also pause and pick it up later (even months later) by selling back to USD and stepping away.

Kraken Funded is a separate programme operated by Payward Oceanic Ltd. (BVI). It's accessed through its own tab in the Kraken app, but it sits outside your regulated Kraken trading relationship. For Kraken Funded, Payward Oceanic Ltd. provides your funded account, not Kraken.

What this means in practice:

  • The challenge fee can be paid from any of your Kraken balances (any fiat or crypto balance), paid once at the start of each challenge

  • Your trading inside Kraken Funded never affects your Kraken balance. Wins, losses, and the max-loss rule all stay inside the Kraken Funded tab — nothing flows back to your account except the profits you choose to withdraw.

  • The trading balance inside the Funded tab is Kraken's capital, not yours. Kraken Funded clearly indicates whether you're in Challenge or Funded mode at all times.

  • Withdrawals always land in your USD Balance in your main Kraken account, regardless of which balance you used to pay the challenge fee.

  • Account statement. Internal Kraken Funded activity (trades, balance changes, P&L) doesn't appear in your Kraken account statement. It lives in a separate Transaction History inside the Kraken Funded tab: “challenge history” while you're in Challenge; “funded history” once you're funded. What does show up on your account statement: the challenge fee charge (paid from whichever Kraken balance you used) and any withdrawals from your funded account back to your USD balance.

Both products let you trade with Kraken's capital, but on different apps:

  • Kraken Funded is available in the Kraken app. Simply buy and sell in dollar amounts, no added leverage, no advanced order types, and a straightforward challenge structure.

  • Kraken Prop is built into Kraken Pro and is aimed at more experienced traders. It offers a full trading terminal, more account sizes, higher leverage, and more advanced tools.

If you're using the Kraken app, Kraken Funded is the right product for you. Kraken Prop is only accessible via Kraken Pro.

The risks below are important to understand before you start a challenge.

  • Loss of the challenge fee. The challenge fee is non-refundable. Most users do not pass on the first attempt. If you don't pass, you lose the fee — and many users buy multiple challenges before passing, or never pass at all.

  • Conflict of interest. Breakout earns when traders fail evaluations and re-purchase one. Payward Oceanic Limited ("POL") has full discretion to handle each trade idea as an internal book entry rather than routing it to the market. When a funded trader's balance hits the max-loss line, POL is released from any liability to pay future performance fees. POL may earn third-party incentives on traders' trade ideas — these are kept by POL and not shared with traders. As such, Breakout's and POL's financial interest is opposite to yours.

  • No guarantee. There is no guarantee that your performance will improve or that you will pass any future evaluations. Prospective traders should purchase an evaluation only if they are confident in their trading ability and accept the risk of not qualifying for a funded account.

  • Funded trading is not the same as live trading. The funded balance is referenced against real market prices, but you don't own the trading account. Your payout, if any, is a discretionary performance fee — not a return on investment or a share of trading profits.

  • Market volatility. Crypto prices can move quickly. Both your challenge balance and your funded balance can hit the max-loss line within a single trading session. Tax consequences. Performance fees paid out from Kraken Funded may have tax implications in your jurisdiction. Speak to a tax adviser if you're not sure how this affects you.

  • No statutory investor protections. Kraken Funded is not a regulated investment product. Payward Oceanic Ltd. does not hold a financial services licence in your jurisdiction. The investor protections that apply to regulated financial services do not apply here.

Kraken Funded disclosure

Performance-based program.
Kraken Funded is a performance-based payout program. The challenge fee is the cost of taking a trading challenge — not an investment, not a deposit. Fees are non-refundable.

No guarantee of results.
Past performance (yours or anyone else's) does not predict future results. Passing a challenge does not mean you will earn payouts from a funded account, and earning payouts in the past does not mean you will earn them again.

Who provides your funded account.
Your funded account is provided by Payward Oceanic Ltd, a company based in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). It's part of the Kraken group, but it's a separate company from the one you use to trade crypto on Kraken. When you buy a funded account, your agreement is with Payward Oceanic Ltd only. No other Kraken company is part of that agreement. Your agreement is called the Funded Trader Agreement. It explains everything about how your funded account works, including: how profits are split, how to withdraw and the maximum loss rule that ends your account.

Unregulated service.
Kraken Funded is not a regulated investment product. It is not authorised or supervised under any investment, securities, or consumer financial services regulatory regime. You will not benefit from statutory investor protections that apply to regulated investment products. The protections that apply to your Kraken account balance are unaffected — Kraken Funded sits outside them.
