What is the KYC questionnaire?
As per our global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, Kraken must ensure that it verifies the identity of its clients and performs the necessary KYC checks, therefore we require additional Know Your Customer (KYC) information from you. This information will be requested via an on-platform questionnaire. For existing clients, the KYC questionnaire will be issued after you sign in to your account. We will inform you via email when this is live for your country. For new clients, these questions will form part of your onboarding process to Kraken.
Why do I have to do this?
As per our global AML requirements, Kraken must ensure that it verifies the identity of its clients and performs the necessary KYC checks. This is essential to help us protect our clients and the exchange against the risk of fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing.
Who must fill out the KYC questionnaire?
All new and existing Kraken clients who reside in the European Economic Area (EEA) will be required to fill out the KYC questionnaire to gain access to Kraken’s products and services. The KYC questionnaire is mandatory and all clients residing within the EEA must complete it.
If you do not wish to complete the questionnaire, you won’t be allowed to avail of our services. You may contact Kraken Support to close your Kraken account and withdraw your assets from the Kraken platform.
What do I need to do?
Existing clients will receive a follow up email asking you to provide the requested information when you sign in to Kraken. You will have 60 days after receiving the email to provide the information. If this information is not given within this timeframe, your access to features on our platform will be restricted until these questions are answered.
