Converting Small Balances on Kraken

Kraken now has a simple feature in which you can convert all crypto asset balances below the minimum instant buy/sell order size (approximately 1 USD). With this feature you can convert your small balances into any asset of your choice, for example BTC or USD.

What are small balances?

Small balances are considered balances below the minimum instant buy/sell order size (approximately 1 USD) of an asset in your account. These small balances can arise due to leftovers from amounts entered to trade or withdraw from an account.

Please note: You can only convert small balances once every 24 hours

How to convert your small balances

    Open the Kraken app and tap on the Portfolio icon.

    On the top right, tap the ellipsis (three dots).

    From here, you can toggle on to see your small balances. Tap on the Convert small crypto balances to convert.

    Review the assets that will be converted. Then select the asset you wish to convert the small balances to.

    Once you are ready, Swipe to confirm the conversion.

    That’s it! You have now successfully converted your small balances.

    Sign into your account via Kraken.com.

    On the homepage of your account, click on Portfolio.

    Scroll down past your transactions and you will see the Convert small balances button. Click on it to start.

    Choose the asset you would like to convert From and click Next.

    Next, choose the asset you would like to convert To.

    Once ready click Confirm. That’s it! You have now successfully converted your small balances.

    Sign into your account via Kraken Pro.

    On the homepage of your account, click on Portfolio, followed by Overview.

    You can also access the feature via the Spot tab.

    Next, click Balances in the bottom left of your screen. Then click Convert small balances.

    Choose the asset you would like to convert to. Once ready click Convert.

    That’s it! You have now successfully converted your small balances.

Frequently asked questions

Small balances are not trade-able through instant trading on Kraken or Spot trading on Kraken Pro, as they are below the trade minimums.

The minimum instant buy/sell order size (approximately 1 USD).

A 3% fee is applied to the conversion.

Once executed, converted small balances will appear as one entry under Portfolio.

Tap View transaction for more details about your conversion. Here you will see in detail the list of small balances used in the conversion with the respective converted amounts.
