Deposits from and withdrawals to third parties

Deposits

Kraken accepts deposits from third-party payment processors (TPPPs) such as Mercury, Relay, and similar institutions, provided that the source of funds can be verified.

To ensure compliance and protection of client funds, the deposit must clearly originate from an account in your name.

This means, for non-regular or third-party deposits (brokerages, investment apps, etc.):

  • Kraken Support may request a receipt and account statement or an official funding instruction letter from the TPPP to confirm proof of origin.

  • May be temporarily placed on hold if the sending institution’s name does not match yours.

  • Once verified, funds will be released to your account.

Example of accepted TPPP deposit:

Transfers from fintech or brokerage services that can confirm your ownership of the source account.

Not accepted:

Cash transfers from other crypto exchanges or anonymous pooled accounts.

Paypal deposits:

Withdrawals

Withdrawals to TPPPs (third-party processors, brokerages, or any account not in your name) are not supported.

Any such withdrawals will be rejected or returned to your Kraken account.

Please note, cash and crypto deposits are not permitted from prohibited regions, including Afghanistan, Belarus, Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Libya, North Korea, Russia, Sudan, South Sudan and Syria.
