Understanding wallets on Kraken Pro

Last updated: 11. dec. 2025
Note:

Your Kraken Pro experience is organized around specialized wallets that help manage your funds across different trading and Earn products. This article explains how these wallets work and how you can transfer between them.

Kraken Pro uses several wallets to separate funds based on how and where they are used:

Main wallet: This is your primary wallet for deposits, withdrawals, and storing assets including crypto, stocks & ETFs, and xStocks. All funds arrive in the Main wallet first, and any Spot or Spot Margin trading happens out of the Main wallet.

Derivatives Wallets: If you are eligible for Derivatives, this wallet holds margin collateral for Kraken Derivatives trading. Funds must be transferred here to open or maintain futures positions.

  • Multi-Collateral Margin Wallet (Multi-M): Used for multi-collateral Derivatives trading. Funds here can be used as collateral for any non-CM Perp or Fixed Futures contracts.

  • Coin-Margin Margin Wallet (Coin-M): Used for coin-margined Derivatives trading. Assets in this wallet are isolated and can only be used to trade CM contracts for that asset.

Futures Wallet: Wallet for all NinjaTrader contract trading. (US Only)

Earn Wallet: This wallet holds funds enrolled in staking or other earning programs. Funds must be staked or allocated here to participate in active Kraken Earn strategies. Auto Earn funds remain in the Main wallet.

Note: If you have chosen Unified Wallet, your Multi-M balances will be moved to your Main wallet, and collateral will be shared between Spot Margin and Multi-M positions.

Each wallet type is displayed as a separate tab on your Pro Portfolio page. This helps you quickly view the balance and usage of funds across different products.

You’ll see:

  • A clear breakdown of holdings by wallet

  • Real-time balances and estimated values, including historical charts for portfolio value and P&L. Sub-breakdowns by asset class and/or trading instrument are also included. (If applicable within wallet)

  • Open leveraged positions

  • Wallet margin and risk statistics

  • Transfer buttons on each page for easy fund movement

Note: Deposits & Withdrawals can only be initiated on the Main wallet, so these buttons are limited to the Overview and Main pages
