The Satoshi test is one of the verification methods available at Kraken for proving control over a private wallet.
The Travel Rule is a regulatory requirement that mandates crypto service providers to collect, verify, and share information about crypto asset transfers. This regulation, stemming from Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations, has been implemented in various jurisdictions. In the European Union, this includes mandatory verification of private wallet ownership for crypto deposits and withdrawals exceeding 1,000 EUR in value.
The Satoshi test might be needed when:

Withdrawing to a new private wallet.
- •
Depositing from an unverified private wallet
- •
Making transfers exceeding 1,000 EUR in value.
To complete the Satoshi test successfully, you must:

Send crypto from the exact address you're verifying
- •
Send crypto to the provided Kraken verification address
- •
Transfer the exact amount specified.
- •
Complete the test within 180 minutes.
- •
If the test is not completed within the required timeframe, the verification will expire, and the address will not be whitelisted. As a result, you will be unable to withdraw funds until you retake and successfully complete the test.
Make sure two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled to successfully complete the test.

When withdrawing to a private wallet, select the Satoshi test option if presented. This starts a 180-minute verification window.

Making the Test Transaction
You'll receive a unique Kraken verification address. The required amount will be displayed (slightly above our minimum deposit requirement).

Send this exact amount from your private wallet. Check the "I've made the deposit" box and click Next.

Depending on the verification status:
If successful: You need to re-initiate a new withdrawal request to the same address.
If pending: Your withdrawal will not proceed and your balance will not change until verification completes.
How to verify ownership of a wallet on Kraken:
Network fees incurred during the Satoshi test will be reimbursed through Kraken fee credits (KFEE). The reimbursement program will operate under specific parameters and is subject to daily limits.
