Kraken Legacy helps you find and recover crypto from old or forgotten wallets.
You do not need any crypto experience to use it. Using the recovery phrases or private keys you provide, Kraken Legacy securely searches across supported blockchains for coins, tokens, NFTs and other assets.
When you start Scan & Recovery, Kraken Legacy automatically sends the supported assets it can recover to your Kraken account. Your Recovery Report shows what was found, what was recovered, and any assets that could not be moved.
To get started, visit legacy.kraken.com and sign in to your Kraken account.
You can use Kraken Legacy with a Kraken account that has completed identity verification (KYC). Your account must be able to receive crypto deposits so recovered assets can be sent to it.
Kraken Legacy is currently unavailable to residents of the United Arab Emirates, Maine and New York, or regions where Kraken does not offer services.
Some assets may also be restricted based on where you live. Kraken Legacy can only recover assets that your account is allowed to receive. See Kraken’s location and asset restrictions for details.
You do not need to know which wallet your recovery information came from or what type of key you have. If you think you have a recovery phrase or private key, try adding it. Kraken Legacy automatically checks whether it recognizes the format and lets you know if it cannot.

Kraken Legacy checks the different ways supported wallets create addresses, including older and newer formats.

NFTs and staked assets may appear in your scan results, but Kraken Legacy does not recover them or transfer them to your Kraken account. They remain in the original wallet or staking service.
A thorough scan can take some time because there are many places to check. Recovery happens automatically, and you can follow the progress as assets are transferred. You can safely close the page and return later while the process continues.
When the process finishes, your Recovery Report shows what Kraken Legacy found, where each asset was found, and its balance and estimated value. It also shows which assets were sent to your Kraken account and explains why any others could not be recovered.
You can review your results at your own pace and download the report as a PDF. You may want to keep a copy for your records or share it with an attorney or financial advisor when settling an estate.
Yes. Protecting the keys you provide is central to how Kraken Legacy works. Your recovery phrase or private key is encrypted in your browser before it is sent to Kraken Legacy.
It is only decrypted inside a secure, isolated environment and used to find and recover supported assets to your Kraken account.
Before you start, you confirm that you own the assets or have the legal right to transfer them. You also agree to Kraken Legacy using your recovery information to scan the wallet and automatically recover the supported assets it can. Recovery cannot be canceled once it starts, and completed transfers cannot be reversed.
When Scan & Recovery ends, Kraken permanently deletes the recovery information you provided and does not keep access to your wallet.

Kraken keeps a record of the scan and recovery, including the assets found, transfer results, and transaction details. You can download your Recovery Report as a PDF to keep for your records. It includes reference details you can share with Kraken Support if you need help with your scan or recovery.
Some assets cannot be moved automatically. An asset may be marked “Not recovered” if:
These assets remain at their original wallet addresses. Your Recovery Report shows their addresses, balances, and why they were not recovered, so you can look into other ways to access them. You can also contact Kraken Support for guidance.
