Getting started with DEX Trading

DEX Trading on Kraken Pro gives you direct access to onchain assets that aren't listed on Kraken, traded from your existing Kraken balance, without leaving Kraken Pro. This guide walks you through setting up your wallet and funding it so you're ready for your first swap.

What you'll need

You'll need a verified Kraken account with a balance you can use to fund your DEX wallet. That's it. There's no separate app to download and no new login to create.

Your wallet is self-custodial

When you start with DEX Trading, an embedded wallet is created for you. This wallet is self-custodial by design, which means:

You own your keys. Kraken never holds your private keys and cannot access them.
There's no seed phrase to write down or store. Setup happens directly inside Kraken Pro.

Setup in seconds

DEX Trading is built to remove the operational overhead that usually comes with onchain trading. There's no seed phrase to manage, no gas to top up, and no bridging to set up. Swaps are gasless, so you don't need to hold native tokens for gas.

Funding your DEX wallet

You fund your DEX wallet directly from your existing Kraken balance, with no external transfer or bridge to arrange. Funding from your Kraken balances carries zero transfer fees. Conversion fees may apply for non-USDC transfers.

Once your wallet is funded, you're ready to trade across the chains supported: Ethereum, Solana, Ink, Base, Optimism, and Arbitrum.

How pricing works

Quotes are aggregated across multiple swap providers to route each trade toward the sharpest available price. Every swap has a single transparent fee of 100 bps (1%), which is already factored into the quote you see before you confirm.
