Using an Easy Bank Transfer to buy crypto on Kraken

You can buy crypto using our Easy Bank Transfer option, which allows you to securely authenticate your bank account with Kraken to purchase crypto instantly. 

How does it work?

An Easy Bank Transfer will allow you to connect your bank account to Kraken, giving you the ability to make a direct bank transfer request and purchase crypto assets in one go.

How to buy crypto via the Kraken app

Follow the steps below to buy crypto using an Easy Bank Transfer:

    On the Kraken app homescreen tap Trade, then tap Buy, and search for the asset you wish to buy.

    Enter the amount you want to purchase. Tap the Pay with dropdown, and select the Easy bank transfer method.

    Tap Confirm and select your bank from the list on the next page. You'll then be routed to your online bank platform or banking app to complete the bank transfer.

    That’s it! Processing times for bank transfers are near-instant.

Frequently asked questions

If the transfer is successful , you will be redirected back to a confirmation screen on the app. You will see your recently bought crypto assets on the Portfolio tab. 

If for any reason the transfer isn't received by Kraken in time, the purchase will fail and you will be redirected to an error screen. If you completed the transfer and the transfer was actually processed by your bank and debited from your bank account, we will return the transfer as soon as it reaches us. 

In the case a transfer related to a failed purchase is not returned by the end of the next business day, after the attempted purchase, please contact Kraken Support so that we may assist further.

To use the Easy Bank Transfer buy option, your Kraken account must meet all of the following requirements:

    Your Kraken account must be verified.

    Your Kraken account must be located in the United Kingdom.

    The name on the bank account you are funding from must match the name on your Kraken account.

  • •

    Your bank must support GBP transfers on the FPS scheme and is supported by Plaid.

The estimated processing time for bank transfers are near instant. However, all bank transfers are subject to review by the bank (both sending and receiving bank). Your purchase may fail if the requested bank transfer is delayed or not received in time.

Plaid limits are dynamic and may adjust over time with continued product usage. In most cases, this means that your limits will increase the more that you use Kraken, but it is also possible that your limits may decrease.

Limits are determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to: your payment method, country of residence, how long you’ve had a Kraken account, and your transaction activity. Plaid transactions are subject to both daily and monthly limits. You may check your limits by going to your Account Settings and selecting the Limits tab.

There are no funding fees for bank transfers requested via Plaid. However, standard instant buy, sell and convert fees still apply when trading.
