Kraken Securities: Frequently Asked Questions (2025 Tax Year)

Ostatnia aktualizacja: 11 mar 2026

Kraken Securities will provide a 1099-B for your stock and ETF capital gains and dividend activity. It is possible you could receive a revised 1099. Changes to dividend tax classifications processed after your original tax form is issued for 2024 may require an amended tax form.

However, there are other circumstances which may also cause you to receive a revised 1099. Alpaca will continue to receive, process and mail these corrections up to the IRS filing deadline of April 17, 2025. It is recommended that tax returns be filed after these mailing deadlines to ensure you have received all reported data. Kraken may provide a 1099-DA and/or 1099-MISC for crypto related activity, see our FAQ on tax forms for more information.

Income from certain types of investments is subject to adjustments that could change the tax reporting on payments received in your account. For example, you may have received a $100.00 cash dividend on June 1, 2023. The company who declared the dividend may later decide to change the tax category (“reallocate”) of that dividend to 50% return of capital and 50% long term gain. Though these reallocations can occur throughout the year, the bulk of income reallocations are provided between late January and February following the year the original payment was made.

The definition of the notes can be found within the end-notes at the end of your tax statement.

Często zadawane pytania

The IRS applies a de minimis threshold of $10 for combined dividends (DIV) and interest (INT). If your total dividends and interest exceed $10, a tax document is required to be issued. If the combined total is $10 or less, it will not be reported on your 1099.

You will only receive a Form 1099 if you had a taxable event from trading equities on Kraken during the last tax year. If you did not, no form will be issued.

In accordance with the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008, brokers are required to report cost basis information for “covered” securities to the IRS. If your securities are “noncovered,” this will be indicated on your 1099-B, and the cost basis information will not be reported to the IRS.
