You can move crypto between your Kraken account and your Ledger wallet directly from Kraken, without copying and pasting wallet addresses. Connect your Ledger device, choose the account you want to use, and follow the steps to deposit or withdraw.
When you transfer crypto the traditional way, you copy a receiving address from one platform and paste it into the other. You can connect your Ledger device directly to Kraken, so you don’t need to copy and paste wallet addresses.
For deposits, you select an account in your Ledger wallet and approve the transaction on your device. The crypto is then sent on-chain to your Kraken deposit address.
For withdrawals, you select a receiving address from your Ledger device and complete the withdrawal in Kraken. You may also be asked to approve a message on your device to verify that you control the address.
Your private keys stay completely on your Ledger device. Kraken never sees your recovery phrase or device PIN.
Currently, you can deposit and withdraw ETH on the Ethereum network using the direct Ledger connection. Deposit network fees are paid in ETH.
Other networks and ERC-20 tokens, such as USDC and USDT, are not included in the initial release of the connected Ledger flow. You can continue using standard address-based transfers for assets and networks supported by both Kraken and your wallet.
We plan to add support for the Bitcoin and Solana networks, as well as ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. We’ll update this article as more assets and networks become available.
You will need:
A verified Kraken account.
A supported Ledger device that is already set up, with the Ethereum app installed and up to date on the device. For help installing or updating it, see Ledger Support.
A computer, Chrome browser (recommended), and a USB cable that supports data transfer. Safari and Firefox cannot connect directly to your Ledger device.
For deposits: Enough of the asset you want to send available in your Ledger wallet, plus the funds needed to pay the network fee.
For withdrawals: An available balance of the asset you want to withdraw in your Kraken account.
Supported Ledger devices include: Ledger Nano S, Ledger Nano S Plus, Ledger Nano X, Ledger Stax, Ledger Flex, Ledger Nano Gen5
Deposits are credited after the transaction reaches the required number of network confirmations, as with any other ETH deposits on Ethereum. Withdrawals follow Kraken’s normal processing checks before being sent to the network. Network conditions can affect how long the transfer takes. You can check the status in your Kraken transaction history.
For deposits, an Ethereum network fee is paid from the account in your Ledger wallet. The amount you can deposit may therefore be lower than the account’s total balance. Review the fee and make sure the deposit meets the minimum shown in Kraken.
For withdrawals, Kraken’s withdrawal fees and minimums apply. Review the amount and fee before confirming.
Your Ledger does not appear: Check the USB connection, unlock the device and make sure you are using one of the supported browsers listed above. Safari and Firefox cannot connect directly to the device.
Your Ledger is busy: Close other apps or browser tabs using the device, then reconnect.
Your account is missing: Check that you connected the correct device and selected the correct network. Compare the full address with the account in your Ledger wallet app.
You cannot enter the amount you want: Leave enough ETH for the network fee and check the deposit minimum.
You rejected the request on your device: Return to Kraken and follow the prompts to try again.
The page closed or the connection dropped after approval: Check your transaction history before starting another transfer. Closing the page does not cancel a transaction that has already been broadcast.
If a transfer does not arrive as expected, contact Kraken Support with the asset, network, amount and transaction hash, if available.
Sign in to Kraken and go to Deposit.
Select ETH and the Ethereum network.
Choose the Ledger option.
Connect and unlock your Ledger device. Select it in the browser’s connection window and follow the prompts to open the Ethereum app on your Ledger device.
Choose the account in your Ledger wallet that you want to send from.
Enter the deposit amount and review the network fee. Your account needs enough ETH to cover both.
Review the transaction details on your Ledger device, including the amount and destination address. Approve only if they match the transfer you intend to make.
Wait for Kraken to confirm that the transaction has been submitted. You can then track the deposit in your transaction history.
Sign in to Kraken and go to Withdraw.
Select ETH and the Ethereum network.
Choose Ledger as the destination.
Connect and unlock your Ledger device, then follow the prompts to open the Ethereum app on your Ledger device.
Select the account in your Ledger wallet where you want to receive the funds.
Follow the prompts to verify the address with your device and save it in Kraken.
Enter the withdrawal amount and review the receiving address, fee and total.
Complete any security or verification checks shown in Kraken, then confirm the withdrawal (these might vary by region).
Kraken sends the withdrawal to your selected Ledger address.
Connecting lets Kraken request addresses and approvals from your device. Your private keys remain completely safe on the Ledger, and unknown to Kraken.
A deposit spends funds from the account in your Ledger wallet, so you approve the transaction on the device.
A withdrawal spends funds from your Kraken account. The Ledger may ask you to verify the receiving address for your safety, while the withdrawal itself is confirmed through Kraken’s normal process.
No. Signing an address-verification message proves that you control the address. It does not send crypto or incur an on-chain transaction fee.
Part of the balance is needed to pay the Ethereum network fee. The deposit amount must leave enough ETH to cover that fee.
Yes. You can continue to deposit or withdraw using Kraken’s standard address-based transfer options.
Ledger funding is currently only available on Kraken Web.
