Clients who held WAR at the protocol snapshot on March 10, 2026 will receive 90% of their eligible allocation, reflecting the standard on-chain migration terms.
Clients holding WAR at the time trading is paused on April 10 will receive a proportional share of the remaining 10% allocation as an additional distribution.
Trading and withdrawals for legacy WAR will be paused on April 10 at 14:00 UTC; full trading is expected to resume the week following April 17.
The WAR ticker remains the same, once migration is complete, your account balance will automatically reflect the new WAR token.
Legacy WAR will be delisted after migration; no further action or manual token swap is needed on your part.
The WAR protocol set a snapshot date of March 10, 2026 at 20:11:49 UTC to determine eligibility for the migration. Kraken will use two separate balance snapshots to calculate client allocations fairly.
Clients who held WAR at the March 10 snapshot will receive 90% of Kraken's total allocation, distributed in proportion to their balance at that moment. This matches the standard on-chain migration setup, anyone who migrated directly on-chain after March 10 also receives 90% of their holdings due to a 10% protocol fee, so these clients are treated exactly as they would have been had they migrated themselves.
The remaining 10% will be distributed proportionally among clients who hold WAR at the time trading is paused on April 10. Kraken is distributing this portion voluntarily to ensure that clients with current balances are not left out entirely.
Here is what to expect at each stage of the migration process:
March 10, 2026 at 20:11:49 UTC: Snapshot 1. This snapshot has been implemented by the WAR team for the migration, and is not set by Kraken.
April 10, 14:00 UTC: Snapshot 2. Trading and withdrawals for the legacy WAR token are paused. Kraken takes a real-time snapshot of current WAR balances at this moment.
Week of April 13: All open WAR orders are cancelled. No specific time is confirmed for this step.
April 13–April 17, 23:59 UTC: Migration period. Client WAR balances are adjusted to reflect new WAR token holdings. No action is required from you during this time.
April 17: The WAR market moves to post-only mode while liquidity is established.
Following week: Full trading resumes.
You do not need to do anything to receive your new WAR tokens. Kraken will handle the migration and update your account automatically during the migration period between April 13 and April 17.
The WAR ticker symbol remains unchanged, so once migration is complete, you will see your updated WAR balance in your account as normal. The balance will reflect the new migrated token, legacy WAR will be delisted and will no longer be supported on Kraken after migration concludes.

Why is the allocation split 90/10?

The additional 10% distributed to current holders is a voluntary step Kraken is taking to ensure no client is excluded entirely.
