Comparison charts on Kraken Desktop

Kraken Desktop introduces a powerful Comparison Charts feature that allows you to compare up to 10 different markets on a single chart. This tool is designed to help you spot trends, visualize correlations, and gain deeper insights into market movements. Whether you're tracking spot markets, perpetual contracts, or derivatives, this feature enhances your trading strategy by providing a comprehensive view of multiple assets simultaneously.
What is the Comparison Charts feature?
The Comparison Charts feature enables you to overlay multiple market price charts into one cohesive view. By doing so, you can analyze how different assets or contracts perform relative to each other in real time. This feature is compatible with all Kraken spot and derivatives markets, making it a versatile addition to your trading toolkit.
How to use the Comparison Charts feature

Launch Kraken Desktop and ensure there is a Chart module added to your board.

Add additional markets by clicking on the “+” icon next to the market selector. You may select up to 10 additional markets you wish to compare with your primary market.
You may also configure additional markets by opening the Chart module settings. Simply click the settings icon in the top right of the module, then click “Add market to compare”. You can then tweak the color and line style of each market.

Lastly, configure your view by deciding how you want to visualize the data. The section below provides a summary of all three options.
In the Chart module settings, once you've added comparison markets, you may choose between three comparison modes:

Gain/Loss percentage:
What it does: Shows the percentage change for each market over a specified period.
Use case: Ideal for assessing which markets are experiencing the largest gains or losses relative to one another.

Relative index to 100:
What it does: Normalizes each market's price data to a starting index of 100.
Use case: Useful for seeing how each market has moved relative to others, especially when tracking correlated movements across different assets or derivatives contracts.

Single axis:
What it does: Displays raw price data on a single axis.
Use case: Provides a straightforward view of price trends, particularly useful for analyzing dated derivatives contracts of the same asset.
Comparison charts can be customized to ensure your data is easy to read, and as beautiful as the rest of your board.

Line styling and colors:
Customize the appearance of each market's line for easy differentiation.

Time frames and Zoom:
Pan across different time frames or zoom in for detailed analysis.

Drawing tools:
Apply drawing tools directly to your comparison chart for deeper insights into market movements.
