Cross-platform fee tier changes (July 2026)

Starting July 9, 2026, we're changing how your fee tier is determined on Kraken. Instead of looking at each product separately, your tier will now be based on your activity across the entire Kraken platform, so you're always getting credit for the full value you bring to Kraken.

There is no action required from you. On July 9, 2026, your account will automatically be placed in the appropriate fee tier.

New fee tiers and updated fees

New tiers are being introduced and some existing fees are changing. See the table below for the updated rates. On July 9, 2026, you may check our fee schedule for full details on the updated rates.

How your tier is determined

Previously, your tier on each product was based solely on your trading volume in that product. Going forward, your tier is based on the best of:

  • Your spot trading volume

  • Your futures trading volume

  • Your Assets on Platform (AoP)

Your tier reflects the most favorable of the three measures. So if your futures volume is where you're most active, that now counts toward your spot tier, automatically. If more than one measure qualifies you for the same tier, your rates remain unchanged, qualifying through multiple measures at the same tier does not provide additional benefits.

Spot trading volume encompasses trades executed in a 30-day rolling period on Kraken Pro markets.

Purchases made outside Kraken Pro, for example with Instant Buy, are not included in your spot trading volume.

What's excluded

Assets on Platform is the total USD value of eligible assets you hold on Kraken. Here's what you need to know:

What's included

  • Assets held in your Kraken wallet (including tokenized assets, crypto assets, and fiat)
  • Assets participating in Opt-In Rewards
  • Staked assets
  • Dual investment balances

What's excluded

  • Loans
  • Embed parent client balances
  • Equities

How AoP is assessed

  • Your AoP is assessed point-in-time — it reflects your current balance, not a 30-day rolling average.
  • AoP is denominated in USD. If the market drops, your AoP value drops and your tier adjusts immediately.
  • The same applies if you withdraw funds — your tier always reflects your current balance.

Your futures trading volume now carries over to your spot fee tier. If your futures activity alone qualifies you for a higher tier than your spot volume or AoP, that higher tier applies everywhere. Futures volume is measured over a 30-day rolling period.

  • Volume on other Kraken Pro markets (spot, margin, etc.) — these are counted separately.
