Beholder allows you to securely manage your cryptocurrencies using a self-custodial wallet integrated seamlessly into Kraken.com. This article guides you step-by-step through creating and managing your account.
First, go to beholder.kraken.com.
Click the Connect button in the top right of the Discover page

Select your preferred method for creating a Beholder account. These methods include email, passkey, an existing wallet (like MetaMask or Phantom), or Google/Apple accounts.

Note: If you choose to create your Beholder account using an existing wallet, you’ll need to connect this wallet to Beholder. If you connect an external wallet to Beholder, make sure you have the private keys of that wallet backed up, and add a passkey to your account. If you lose access to the wallet that created your Beholder account, you’ll lose access to funds on Beholder.
That’s it! Your Beholder account is ready to be funded. Your wallet addresses have been generated, and can be viewed and copied by clicking the Profile icon in the top right corner.

After creating your Beholder account, you can connect your Kraken account, add more wallets, and tweak additional account settings. These functions can be accessed by clicking the Wallet icon(s) in the top right corner.
Connecting your Kraken account is fast and simple. When you connect your Kraken account to your Beholder account, this allows you to seamlessly transfer funds between the accounts. To connect your Kraken account, follow the steps below:
Click the Profile icon in the top right corner of the page, and then click Connect your Kraken account.

You’ll then be taken to the Kraken Sign In page, sign into your Kraken account. After entering your sign-in details, you may be required to confirm via email.
After signing into your Kraken account, you’ll be automatically taken back to Beholder with your account now successfully connected.
External wallets, such as Metamask and Phantom, can be added to your Beholder account. This will allow you to transact and view assets within these wallets. Please keep in mind, transactions in Beholder initiated from your external wallet are not gassless and you will be prompted to sign transactions from your external wallet. To add an external wallet, follow these instructions:
Click the Wallet icon(s) in the top-right corner of the page, then click Add.

You can now Connect a wallet or Watch a wallet.
If you'd like to watch a wallet, simply select that option, then enter the address/domain and give the wallet a name (optional).
If you'd like to connect a wallet, continue to the next step.

If you elect to connect a wallet, select that option, and then choose your wallet provider.
The connection process may differ depending on the wallet you connect. For these instructions we will cover adding MetaMask.

From this point forward, these instructions are tailored for MetaMask connections. Your experience may vary depending on the wallet provider you connect. If you have any questions, please reach out to Kraken Support.
If prompted, select the network the wallet account is on. In this case, Ethereum (including EVM chains) and Solana are available, and we will select the Ethereum option.

Next, a list of available wallet accounts on the network you selected will be presented. If this is the correct account(s), click Connect.

Note: This page may look slightly different for you (account names, quantity of accounts), in our example, we are using a hardware wallet connected through MetaMask.
Lastly, you'll be requested to confirm the connection. If everything looks correct, click Confirm.
If you are using a hardware wallet, like we are in this example, you will be required to sign the confirming transaction from the device.

Note: The network does not need to show "Ethereum" (as shown in the image). As long as it is an EVM chain (Ethereum, Polygon, Ink, Base, OP Mainnet, Arbitrum) it will properly connect to Beholder.
Ensure the Request from entry says "beholder.kraken.com".
To adjust account settings, such as 2FA, backups, and connections, follow these steps:
Click the Wallet icon(s) in the top-right corner of the page, then click Settings.

On the Settings page, you can adjust your sign in methods, account connections, passkey & 2FA, and view/export your private key.
Beholder provides complete self-custody of your crypto assets, meaning only you have control over your wallet’s private keys. Kraken does not and cannot access or control your funds. Beholder uses advanced key management and recovery methods, but you should still keep a secure backup of your private keys and make sure you have multiple login methods available by setting up a passkey and 2FA.
Gas fees for transactions are simplified on Beholder. The platform automatically handles gas payments and includes the cost transparently in each transaction. You don’t need to manage or hold gas tokens separately.
