Getting Started: Your First Evaluation

Getting started with Kraken Prop takes just a few minutes. Here's how to purchase your first evaluation and begin trading.

Open Kraken Pro on web (pro.kraken.com) or mobile and navigate to the Prop section. You'll find it in the main navigation.

New to Kraken? Click "Sign Up" and complete basic verification, just your email and country. That's all you need to purchase an evaluation with a credit card.

Existing Kraken user? If you already have a Kraken account with at least basic verification, you're ready to go. If you'd like to pay using your Kraken balance instead of a credit card, you'll need to be verified.

Select an account size that fits your trading style. Plans are available from $5,000 up to $200,000. Each plan has defined risk parameters (MDL, MDD, and profit target), you can review these on the plan selection screen or in the Kraken Prop Plans & Pricing article.

You'll also have the option to add a 90/10 profit split upgrade for an additional 10% of the base plan price. This increases your share of profits on the funded account from 80% to 90%.

Before completing your purchase, you'll need to review and accept:

  • Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  • Evaluation Agreement and Program Rules
  • Refund and Chargeback Policy

Choose your payment method:

  • Credit card
  • Kraken balance (USD)

After payment is confirmed, your evaluation trading account is created automatically. You'll see a confirmation screen with your account details.

To access your new evaluation account:

  1. Click your balance in the top right of Kraken Pro to open the portfolio dropdown.
  2. Click Change to see your available accounts.
  3. Select your new evaluation account.
  4. You're now on the Prop trading terminal, place your first trade.

Your evaluation account will appear alongside your primary Kraken account in the account switcher. You can switch between them at any time.

Once you switch to your Prop account, the trading terminal shows:

  • Market selector: Choose which pair to trade.
  • Chart: Price chart with OHLC candlestick data.
  • Order book: Live bid/ask prices.
  • Order form: Place market, limit, stop loss, or take profit orders.
  • Portfolio widget: Your balance, equity, P&L, MDL remaining, MDD remaining, margin usage.
  • Tables: Open orders, trades, closed orders, and positions.

You're all set. Good luck!
