News module on Kraken Desktop

Last updated: 17. 3. 2026

The News module on Kraken Desktop allows you to add a live, scrollable, tailored news feed to any of your boards. You can adjust it to the markets you care about, filter by categories and sources, and choose how articles display. The News module is built to provide you with breaking information without removing you from your trading zone.

What you'll see when you add the News module

When you add News to your board, you’ll immediately see a vertical list of headlines.

Each news event typically includes:

  • Headline

  • Time posted (for example, 5h, 1D)

  • Publisher (for example, Bloomberg, CoinDesk)

  • Asset tags (For example, BTC, ETH, SOL)

Tags can appear green, red, or grey depending on the article's bullish/bearish sentiment.

When an article is open, you’ll see a row of controls in the top-right of the viewing window:

  • Back / Forward: move to the previous or next article in the current list

  • Copy link: copy the article URL to your clipboard

  • Open in browser: open the article in your default browser

  • X (close): close the article and return to the headline list

You’ll also see the article’s categories (for example: Business, Crypto, Markets) so you can quickly understand what type of story it is.

At the top of the News module, use Search these articles to filter the visible list by keyword (helpful for searching a token name, company, exchange, etc.).

A news feed is most useful when it’s close to what you trade and easy to scan. Common setups:

  • Pair it with your charts: keep BTC/ETH news next to BTC/ETH charts for quick context on sudden moves.

  • Event monitoring: filter to categories like Regulatory or Economics when major events are driving volatility.

  • Portfolio awareness: use “Assets from balances” so the feed follows what you actually hold.

  • Board-specific news: use the “Markets from board” filter to automatically track whatever markets your current layout is focused on.
