When you sign in to Kraken with your Kraken password, you can use either your email address or your username.
Email sign-in is on by default. If your account had a Global Settings Lock (GSL) enabled on June 21, 2023, it may still be set to Username only. You can change this at any time using the steps below.
Choosing what you sign in with
When you sign in with your Kraken password, you can choose what Kraken accepts:

Email address and username (default): enter either one.

Username only: only your username is accepted.
This setting only applies when you sign in with your Kraken password. It doesn’t affect:

Passwordless sign-in with a passkey
- •
Sign in with Apple or Google
You can only change this setting on the Kraken website. You can’t change it in the Kraken app or the Kraken Pro app.
If you have a Global Settings Lock (GSL) enabled, you’ll need to disable it before you can change this setting. Having trouble? See I can’t unlock my account settings.
To change the setting

Sign in to your Kraken account on the Kraken website.

Click the profile icon in the top-right corner of your screen.

Select Security.

Toggle the sign-in method to Username only or Email address and username.
