When the device that your Kraken Wallet is hosted on is lost or stolen, the level of exposure to your assets depends on the security features enabled prior.
Here are some recommendations to ensure the security of your wallet after your device was lost or stolen.
For iOS devices:
- 1Report the loss or theft of your iPhone to local law enforcement.
- 2Mark the device as lost in Find Devices on icloud.com/find. (In order to mark a device as lost, the device must have been turned on in Find Devices before it’s lost.)
- 3Sign in your account with your Apple ID.
- 4If your device was stolen, we recommend to erase your lost or stolen device in Find Devices.
When you erase a device in Find Devices, an Activation Lock remains on to protect the device. Your Apple ID & password are required to reactivate the device.
For android devices:
- 1Report the loss or theft of your phone to local law enforcement.
- 2Go to android.com/find. (For the Android device to be found the device will need to be signed in to Google Account, Location turned on, Find My Device turned on before it’s lost)
- 3Sign in to your Google Account.
- 4At the top of the sidebar, select the lost device.
- 5The lost device gets a notification.
- 6On the map, you'll get info about where the device is.
Note: The location is approximate and may not be accurate. If your device can't be found, you may find its last known location, if available.
- 7If you get a prompt, tap Enable lock & erase.
- 8Secure device: Locks your device with your PIN or password. If you don't have a lock, you can set one. To help someone return your device to you, you can add a message or device number to the lock screen.
- 9Erase device: Permanently deletes all data on your device, but may not delete SD cards. After you erase, Find My Device won't work on the device.

It is important to remember that Kraken Wallet is a self-custody wallet and the the responsibility for keeping your assets stored safe is solely with the wallet owner.
Even with all the steps provided, there's still a possibility that your Kraken Wallet is compromised unless the device is recovered before anyone accesses it.
Unfortunately, if your wallet is compromised, Kraken Wallet is unable to assist with the recovery of any disputed funds due to the irreversible nature of cryptocurrency transactions.
