Creating and tracking an order

Customizing the Trade page:

Order form
The Order form widget allows you to place various types of orders on Kraken Pro. You can view more details about all the spot order types and spot order options as well as futures order types & options in the respective article links.
Order Form
Above you can see an example of the order form for a futures XRP Perp contract. The general layout is as follows from top to bottom, left to right:
  • Buy/Sell selector
  • Order type drop down
  • Price and Quantity fields
  • Quantity slider
  • Balance/margin details
  • More order options
Upon order submission, the order will be placed on the spot pair or futures contract currently chosen in the market selector.
Pro Tip:
You can quickly submit your order by using "CTRL+ENTER" on desktop or "CMD+RETURN" on mac.
Click the settings wheel in the top right corner of the widget to amend widget specific settings:
  • Show order summary: View a summary of your order at the bottom of the order form next to the buy/sell button.
  • Prevent consecutive submitting (spot only): Disable the buy/sell button for 3 seconds after order submission, helping avoid unintended double order submissions.
  • Reset quantity on order submission: Reset the quantity field after order submission, helping avoid submitting another order with the same, incorrect quantity.
Order book
The Order book widget allows you to view the limit orders currently open on our markets. It is composed of two sides, the Bid and Ask, which are buy and sell orders respectively.

You have the option of grouping the prices with a lower precision to view more of the book from the top left-hand side.
Order Book
If you hover over a level on the book the summed conversion to USD is also available.
Pro Tip:
You can click on the price or quantities on the orderbook and the Order form widget will automatically have its fields populated.
There are also other widget specific settings available by clicking the 3 dots on the top right-hand corner which allow you to customize the look of the order book:
  • User price ladder style: Visualize order book as a vertical list with the highest bids on the left and lowest asks on the right.
  • Show cumulative volume size background: A visual representation of the Total at a given price level. In other words, the cumulative depth of the order book.
  • Show step volume size background: A visual representation of the Quantity at each price level. Enabling this automatically disables the cumulative volume bars setting above.

Market trades
The Market trades widget is a feed of the most recent trade executions that occurred on the selected market. It will show the key information for each execution (price, quantity & time).
To the left hand side of the entry, there will also be an arrow pointing up should the price of the trade be higher than the previous one, or an arrow pointing down if the price of the trade was lower than the previous one.

The color of the entry will differ based on the aggressor for the execution, meaning that if the trade occurred due to a buy aggressor, the entry text will be green, whilst if the aggressor was a seller the entry text will be red.

Market charts
The Market chart widget is a TradingView style price vs time chart with the option of having four market charts being shown at once. The market chart’s main function is to provide visual representation of open orders, stops, and positions.
The data is updated live (per tick) and can be switched to a number of common time frames: 1min, 5min, 15min, 30min, 1H, 4H, 1D, 1W.
Note:
For Futures markets there is the option to switch to mark price data instead of the normal trade price data.
The TradingView style chart offers some customization settings most know and love such as, Technical Analysis indicators, Candle Styles, Drawing Tools, and various other chart settings. There is also an option to choose a simple chart.
Directly on the chart, you are able to click and drag orders to a different price by dragging the order's "handle" (three dots on left of the order label) to a new price level.
Dragging
Note that if for example, a buy limit order is dropped above the current price - and it is not marked “Post only” - then it will have crossed the spread and will execute immediately as a market order.
Individual orders can be canceled via the ❌ button on the order label.
There are additional widget settings available by clicking the 3 dots on the top right-hand corner which allow you to customize the chart specific settings:
  • Open and trigger orders: View open and trigger orders on the market chart.
  • Open positions: View open positions on the market chart.
  • Order form preview: Preview the order form configuration on the market chart. Does not apply to market orders.
  • Trade history (last 1000): View your recent trade history on the market chart. You can choose between:
Arrows: Printed above or below the candle the trade occurred at.
Circles: Printed on the candle at the price the trade occurred at.

Depth chart
The Depth chart widget is another way to visualize orderbook data. To effectively interpret a depth chart, it's crucial to grasp its fundamental elements. This chart comprises several essential components:
  • Bid Line: The bid line illustrates the cumulative amount of buy orders, or bids, at specific price levels. It's depicted as a green line sloping downwards from left to right.
  • Ask Line: The ask line represents the cumulative amount of sell orders, or asks, at various price levels. It's depicted as a red line sloping downwards from right to left.
  • Price Axis: This axis denotes the price levels at which buy and sell orders are positioned.
  • Depth Axis: The vertical axis portrays the total amount of sell orders placed (in the base currency)
You can also hover over the depth chart to view the cumulative amount of order sizes up until a given price point and some other information.
Depth Chart
In the example image above, hovering the mouse over the depth chart displays details for a “sell wall” at $2,830.
Simple order form
The Simple order form, as the name implies, is a simpler version of the classic order form. It allows you to place limit or market orders without any advanced order options. If you do not use the other order options it will come in handy for ease of use.

Alerts
The Alerts widget allows you to create alerts which will trigger once the specified market is trading at, above or below a given price point. The Kraken Pro web app and the Pro mobile app will alert you once your alert conditions are met. This is a very handy tool to use when observing and trading multiple markets.
