What is the onboarding questionnaire?
In light of Canadian regulatory requirements, Kraken’s Canadian clients must fill out an investor questionnaire. The purpose of this questionnaire is to determine your risk profile and your understanding of the risks associated with trading crypto assets. To do this, we will ask you questions about your past investing experience, your risk tolerance and your financial situation.
Who must fill out the onboarding questionnaire?
All new Kraken clients who reside in Canada will be required to fill out the investor questionnaire to gain access to Kraken’s products and services. The investor questionnaire is mandatory and all new and existing Canadian clients must complete the questionnaire.
Existing Canadian clients must fill out the questionnaire by July 25, 2023 in order to maintain access to all the features Kraken has to offer. If you do not complete the questionnaire by July 25, 2023, you will not be able to deposit cash or crypto to your Kraken account until you complete the questionnaire.
If you do not wish to complete the questionnaire, you may contact Support to close your Kraken account and withdraw your assets from the Kraken platform.
Why am I not able to use the Kraken platform after filling out the investor questionnaire?
As noted above, the goal of the investor questionnaire is to determine your risk profile and your understanding of the risks associated with investing in and trading crypto assets. If, based on your answers, we determine that your risk tolerance is not suitable for investing in and trading crypto assets, we may restrict your access or prevent you from opening an account.
If you believe that you have made a mistake in your questionnaire, you can contact Support to update your answers in the investor questionnaire.
