Back in 2023, the Polygon team published their roadmap announcing their intent to migrate from the ticker MATIC to POL, on the Polygon Network.
We’re very pleased to now be able to list the new, native POL token on Kraken on September 4th, 2024 12:00 PM UTC.
Here’s what’s changing:
On the Polygon network:
- •On September 4th, 2024 12:00 PM UTC, Kraken will list POL on the Polygon Network.
On the Ethereum network:
- •Kraken will continue to support both MATIC and POL on the Ethereum Network until further notice.
Clients with staked MATIC:
Clients who currently have MATIC staked* on Kraken are not impacted by any of the changes happening next week: all staked MATIC will remain staked, and this change also has no direct impact on the reward rate.
*Geographic restrictions apply.
Additional information
In the coming months, Kraken will automatically migrate clients 1:1 from MATIC to POL. We will provide details regarding this migration, including a specific timeline, once available.
Clients also have the ability to trade their MATIC for POL themselves now, rather than wait to be automatically migrated, via the MATIC/POL trading pair using Kraken Pro, or via the convert feature using the Kraken app.
