Kraken app refresh
This guide is tailored for clients exploring the new Kraken app interface.
The Kraken app facilitates quick and convenient crypto transactions, with card purchases, custom orders and more!
Using the app
Requirements
- •To use the Kraken app, you will need to verify your account to Intermediate or Pro level.
- •The app is available in all regions except Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria. This restriction is based on the registered address of your Google Play or Apple App Store account and is not related to the address registered on your Kraken account.
- •Please ensure you are using at least Android version 8.0 or iOS version 15+.
How to buy
To buy crypto using your cash balance, payment card, Plaid ACH or digital wallet:
- 1.Tap on the Trade button and then tap Buy.
- 2.From the list of assets tap on the crypto you would like to buy, or use the search function to find a specific asset.
- 3.Enter the amount you would like to buy and select one of your available payment methods.
- 4.On the next screen you can review your purchase. If everything looks right, tap Confirm.
- 5.That's it! You have successfully bought crypto.
How to sell
To sell crypto and credit the cash into your account balance, you will need to locate the asset from your account balance:
- 1.Tap the Trade button and then Sell.
- 2.From your assets list tap on the crypto you would like to sell.
- 3.Input the amount you would like to sell (you can toggle between cash value and crypto volume). The cash will be added to your balance in the default currency you have saved on the Kraken app. If you want to receive the cash in a different currency, you will need to change this on your Account settings before completing the transaction.
- 4.Tap Continue to review your sale. If everything looks right, tap Confirm to complete your sale.
- 5.That's it! You can check your Portfolio to see your new account balance.
How to convert
Our convert feature allows you to change between any crypto and cash combination. This includes cash to cash, crypto to crypto, as well as cash to crypto:
- 1.Tap the Trade button and then tap Convert.
- 2.The first field is the asset you want to Convert from. The second field is for the asset you want Convert to. Select from any of your existing account balances.Next, input the amount you would like to convert. The Order type Instant is selected by default. If everything looks right, tap Continue to review.

- 3.Tap confirm to complete your conversion.
- 4.A pop up will confirm your conversion.
How to add your payment card
Before you try to add a card please review the important information and access requirements on our FAQ page.
To add your payment card on the Kraken app:
- 1.Tap your initials in the top left corner of your screen. This is the Account icon. Next select Payment methods.
- 2.On the next screen tap Add a card.
- 3.Input your card number, expiry date and security code. Be sure to double check that the billing address and card details are correct. Tap Add card.
- 4.That's it! You have successfully added your payment card. Once confirmed, your card will be listed in the Pay with option.
Payment methods
You can buy crypto instantly on the Kraken app with the payment methods listed below. Access to each method is dependent on your accounts region and the device you are using.
Alternatively, you can deposit cash or crypto to fund your account.
How to connect your Google Pay or Apple Pay account

To connect your digital wallet account on the Kraken app:
- 1.Tap your initials in the top left corner of your screen. This is the Account icon. Next select Payment methods.
- 2.Depending on your mobile device, select either Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- 3.Add your card within your digital wallet app.
- 4.Once confirmed, your Apple Pay or Google Pay account will be listed in the Pay with option.

Set up a custom order
To set up a customer order, follow these instructions.
Edit or delete your payment card
Once your card information is stored, it's not possible to access and edit. If you need to make changes to the information, you will first need to delete the card and add it again with the updated information.
- 1.Tap on the Account icon on the top left and select Payment methods.
- 2.Locate the card you would like to remove and swipe left. On the prompt, confirm if you would like to remove the card.
- 3.You will receive an email confirmation once your card has been succesfuly removed.
Troubleshooting:
- •If you get an error, you will need to disable your Global Settings Lock.
- •For clients in the USA, a maximum of four cards can be added within a 30-day rolling period and a maximum of two attempts to add a new card is allowed.
Please note:
- •A maximum of four successful attempts to save your payment card is allowed within a 30 day rolling period. Deleting saved cards will not reset this limit so be mindful of this before removing any of your saved card details. Card information is securely stored and displayed according to PCI compliance regulations.
- •Deleting saved or new cards will not reset this limit, so be mindful of this before removing any of your saved card details.
Delete your connected online bank account
- 1.Tap your initials in the top left corner of your screen. This is the Account icon. Next select Payment methods.
- 2.Locate the bank account you would like to remove and swipe left. On the prompt, confirm if you would like to remove the online bank account.
If you get an error, you will need to remove your Global Settings Lock.
Locating your balances and transaction history
Your transaction history will provide you with a full summary of your transaction activity. You can visualize how your historical portfolio has performed over time with the line chart view show on the Portfolio tab.
To view your account balance, tap on the Portfolio icon.
The 1 month view is selected by default. You can choose from any of the following time ranges, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and ALL. The account balance will be displayed in your default cash currency.
Your transaction history will provide you with a full summary of your transaction activity.

Supported currency pairs
You can buy, sell and convert any asset to any other asset. Please note the following exceptions:
- •There are some geographic restrictions which may affect the assets that are available in your verified country of residence.
- •Cash-to-Cash pairs are not available in the USA.
- •Newly listed coins may have a delay of a few days before becoming available.
- •Instantly buying, selling and converting any asset to any other asset is not available on the Kraken Pro app or website.
