What is the onboarding questionnaire?
As a registered Restricted Dealer in Canada, Kraken is required to collect certain information from clients in accordance with Canadian regulatory requirements. All Canadian clients must complete an Investor Questionnaire, which helps us assess your risk profile and your understanding of the risks associated with trading crypto assets. To do this, we ask questions about your investing experience, risk tolerance, and financial situation.
Who must fill out the onboarding questionnaire?
All new and existing Canadian clients are required to complete the Investor Questionnaire in order to access Kraken’s products and services. Completion of the questionnaire is mandatory under Canadian regulatory requirements.
If you do not wish to complete the questionnaire, you may close your Kraken account and withdraw your assets from the Kraken platform.
Why am I not able to use the Kraken platform after filling out the investor questionnaire?
As noted above, the goal of the investor questionnaire is to determine your risk profile and your understanding of the risks associated with investing in and trading crypto assets. If, based on your answers, we determine that your risk tolerance is not suitable for investing in and trading crypto assets, we may restrict your access or prevent you from opening an account.
