Kraken Desktop supports an array of drawing tools, including Free Line, Fibonacci Retracement, Time Cycle, and many more — 16 to be exact!
Each of these charting tools can be found just to the right of any chart.
Select the tool of your liking and start using it with a single left mouse-click, to see more options in that tool category, click the drawing tool icon a second time. To change drawing tools, select a new tool from the icon list, or use a hotkey.
Drawing tool overviews:
Crosshair (C)
Description:
Displays specific candle information and price data, including:
Date & Time
O = Opening Price
H = Highest Price
L = Lowest Price
C = Closing Price
+/- % Price Change
This tool is also used to display indicator and overlay data.
Customization:
None.
Annotation (A)
Description:
Inputs text, includes: bold, italics, text size, and placement lock options.
Customization:
Text: Enter the desired text directly into the interface which will then display on the chart.
Font Size/color: Choose from various font sizes and colors to ensure that the text stands out or blends in according to the importance and readability required.
Alignment: You can align the text vertically and horizontally to best fit the chart segment you are annotating.
Trend Line (T)
Description:
Draws an individual trend line.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Customize the color, dash style, and endpoints of the trend line.
Extend Right/Left: Opt to extend the trend line to the right or left indefinitely.
Extended Line (X)
Description:
Extends a line indefinitely in any direction.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Customize the color, dash style, and endpoints of the trend line.
Extend Right/Left: Opt to extend the trend line to the right or left indefinitely.
Arrow Line (W)
Description:
Draws an individual trend line with a single arrow.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Customize the color, dash style, and endpoints of the trend line.
Extend Right/Left: Opt to extend the trend line to the right or left indefinitely.
Free Line (F)
Description:
Free-form draws an individual line. Hold SHIFT to draw your line.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Customize the color and dash style.
Horizontal Line (H)
Description:
Draws an individual horizontal line. Text may also be added to this line.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Adjust the color and style of the horizontal line to visually distinguish between different price levels or to match your charting theme.
Extend: Enable the extension of the horizontal line to both the left and right ends of the chart, making it span the entire width for continuous reference.
Text Settings: Customize text labels associated with the horizontal line, including content, position, font size, and color to enhance readability and context.
Vertical Line (V)
Description:
Draws an individual vertical line.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Select the color, style, and thickness of the vertical line.
Paralell Lines (L)
Description:
Draws an individual vertical line.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Choose different colors and styles for each line within the parallel lines to differentiate between multiple trend channels or range boundaries.
Extend Right/Left: Extend both lines in the parallel set to the left or right to visualize extended ranges or trends across the chart.
Middle Line Toggle: Add or remove a middle line within the channel for additional trend analysis and reference points.
Horizontal Ray (Z)
Description:
Draws an individual horizontal ray, which has a starting point and extends to either side indefinitely.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Set the color and dash style for the horizontal ray to visually separate it from other chart elements.
Extend Direction: Configure the ray to extend to the right, left, or both sides of the chart.
Text: Add labels directly on the horizontal ray to annotate specific price levels or notes for quick reference. You may customize the font size, color, and position of the text.
Path (P)
Description:
Draw custom patterns or shapes by connecting multiple points on the chart.
Customization:
Line Color and Style: Adjust the color and style of the path line.
Custom Points: Create unique shapes and patterns by plotting and connecting multiple points on the chart, which can be moved and adjusted to fit the analysis.
Fibonacci Retracement (E)
Description:
Draws a Fibonacci Retracement, by taking two extreme points on a chart and dividing the vertical distance by key Fibonacci ratios of 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%, 78.6%, and 100%.
Customization:
Levels: Customize which Fibonacci levels are displayed on the chart by toggling individual percentages on or off. Add or remove levels as needed to focus on specific retracement zones relevant to your analysis.
Labels: Choose to display labels on the left side of the drawing.
Line Customization: Adjust the color and style of the retracement lines, ensuring that each level stands out or blends into the chart as required.
Trend Line: Enable or disable a trend line that connects the high and low points used for the Fibonacci measurement.
Background Highlighting: Add or remove background color between levels to enhance visual clarity.
Speed Fan (N)
Description:
Draws a Fibonacci Fan.
Customization:
Labels: Toggle this option to display or hide labels on the Speed Fan.
Levels Line: Customize the appearance of the lines between different speed levels. This can include color changes or adjustments to the line thickness.
Trend Line: Modify the main trend line that extends from the Speed Fans origin, allowing you to adjust thickness, color, and pattern to suit your visual preferences.
Grid: Choose to display a background grid that aligns with the Speed Fan levels.
Background: Enhance readability by turning on or off the background shading of the Speed Fan.
Add Level: Increase the granularity of your analysis by adding additional levels to the Speed Fan.
Speed Arc (S)
Description:
Draws a Fibonacci Arc.
Customization:
Labels: Toggle this option to display or hide percentage labels along the arcs.
Levels Line: Customize the appearance of the arcs themselves by adjusting the thickness, color, and style, allowing for better visibility against the chart background.
Trend Line: Adjust the trend lines that connect the arcs, fine-tuning their thickness and color to match or contrast with the arcs for clearer analysis.
Background: Enable or disable the background shading within the arcs to make the tool stand out or blend into the chart, depending on your preference.
Add Level: Add additional levels to your Speed Arc for more granular analysis. This feature allows traders to introduce new arcs at specified intervals, enhancing the depth of analysis.
Circle (O)
Description:
Draws an individual circle.
Customization:
Border: Adjust the color and thickness of the circle’s border to make it stand out against the chart background, or blend it in subtly, depending on your needs.
Background: Toggle the background fill on or off. When enabled, you can choose a color fill for the circle, enhancing the visibility of the area it encompasses or differentiating it from other marked regions.
Text: Allows you to enter and position text within the circle, providing contextual information or notes directly on the chart.
Rectangle (U)
Description:
Draws an individual rectangle.
Customization:
Border: Adjust the color and thickness of the circle’s border to make it stand out against the chart background, or blend it in subtly, depending on your needs.
Background: Toggle the background fill on or off. When enabled, you can choose a color fill for the circle, enhancing the visibility of the area it encompasses or differentiating it from other marked regions.
Text: Allows you to enter and position text within the circle, providing contextual information or notes directly on the chart.
Measure (M)
Description:
Measures time (# of bars and duration) and price (+/- % and amount).
Customization:
Lines: Toggle this option to display or hide the lines that extend from the starting point to the ending point of the measurement.
Up Color: Customize the color of the measure line when the measurement
Erasing chart drawings
- You can erase individual chart drawings by left-clicking the drawing itself on the chart, and clicking the Delete or Backspace button on your keyboard.
- To temporarily hide all drawings on the chart, click the eyeball icon underneath the drawing tools.
- To delete all chart drawings at once, click the trash can icon underneath the drawing tools.
