Service interruption for SWIFT international wire transfer funding

If you use our bank partner in Japan to fund your Kraken account for EUR, USD or GBP using SWIFT international wire transfers, read this important notice.

Due to the exponential growth we've seen this year, our payment partner in Japan needs to narrow the scope of clients it services to maintain the excellent level of service we pride ourselves on providing. As of March 21, 2018 this payment partner will only be servicing residents of Japan.

Clients residing outside Japan who fund their accounts through this method should be aware that USD and Euro deposits sent to our Japanese bank will no longer be accepted (they will be returned to you).

  • SWIFT (SMBC) EUR and USD deposits were disabled at 11:59 PM (JST) on March 20, 2018. Any deposits not received by this time were returned to the sending bank.
  • SWIFT (SMBC) withdrawals were disabled at 12:00 PM (JST) on March 27, 2018.

We are working to provide a replacement funding option for affected clients. Any updates will be communicated via email, on our blog, or via our Twitter account.

In the meantime, please see this page for alternative funding methods.
