Notice of Moonbeam (GLMR) Migration

Last updated: 19 October 2026

The Moonbeam (GLMR) token migrated from Polkadot to the Base network. Kraken handled this migration on behalf of all affected clients, so clients did not need to take any action. The migration was 1:1, GLMR balances were not affected, and the GLMR ticker stayed the same. Trading remained open throughout.

This article explained how the migration worked and what clients could expect at each stage.

  • GLMR migrated from Polkadot to the Base network at a 1:1 rate.

  • Kraken handled the migration on clients’ behalf. No action was required.

  • GLMR balances were not affected.

  • Trading for GLMR remained open throughout the migration.

  • GLMR funding (deposits and withdrawals) was paused on July 30, 2026 at 14:00 UTC.

  • The migration window ran from July 31 to August 7, 2026. Funding was re-enabled once the migration was complete.

  • Polkadot GLMR is no longer supported.

Moonbeam (GLMR) moved from Polkadot to the Base network. Kraken migrated client balances automatically at a 1:1 rate, so every GLMR clients held remained one GLMR after the migration. The GLMR ticker did not change.

Clients did not need to bridge tokens, swap anything, or take any other action. For GLMR held on Kraken, the migration was handled for them.

A July 31, 2026 bridging deadline applied to GLMR held in personal wallets, not to GLMR held on Kraken. There was no need to move GLMR off Kraken to complete the migration.

Here is what happened at each stage:

July 30, 2026 at 14:00 UTC: GLMR funding (deposits and withdrawals) was paused. Trading remained open.

July 31 to August 7, 2026: Migration window. GLMR was migrated to GLMR on Base. Funding was re-enabled once the migration was complete.

Clients did not need to do anything to complete this migration. Kraken updated accounts automatically during the migration window.

The GLMR ticker stayed the same, so balances continued to appear as GLMR in clients’ accounts. After the migration, GLMR was the Base version of the token. Polkadot GLMR is no longer supported on Kraken.

For reference, after the migration GLMR was the Base ERC-20 token deployed at the following address:

0xb3846fd356c2149ee8d30b0449088dc74e265459
