Introducing Forex Perpetual Futures

We’re excited to unveil Forex Perpetual Futures (FX Perps) – a new product that brings the robust features of our crypto perps to the dynamic world of forex trading. FX Perps are designed to offer you real-time exposure to the forex market while maintaining the familiar trading experience you love.

FX Perps are perpetual contracts based using a forex market underlying index. Just like our crypto perps, they allow you to trade without worrying about expiry dates. Instead, you can focus on market movements and refine your strategies.

Real-Time Underlying Data

The underlying forex index prices are sourced from DxFeed’s Composite Forex Index Prices are updated every second while the underlying forex spot market is open.

Special Rules When The Underlying Market Is Closed

When the forex spot market is closed, our system automatically applies rules to ensure fairness and market integrity:

  • Zero Funding:
    • With a stale index price, calculating the contract premium isn’t possible.
    • Therefore funding is set to zero during market closures, and no payouts are made unless more than 50% of the required premium observations inside a period are recorded.
  • Price Collar Restriction:
    • Trading Range: Orders can only be placed within a 4% range of the last observed index price.
      • Example: Bids cannot be placed more than 4% above, and asks cannot be placed more than 4% below the last observed index price.
    • Error Handling: Orders outside this range will be rejected with the error message (OUTSIDE_PRICE_COLLAR).

FX Perps are integrated into our platform with the same intuitive design as our crypto perps. Other than the special rules during market closures, FX Perps function just like the products you already know.

It is worth noting the main differences from other crypto perpetual contracts; while the underlying market is considered open, the mark price premium for perpetual contracts is capped at 0.25% and the maximum relative funding rate is 0.1% per hour.
