Earn via the API

Last updated: 2 November 2026

Introduction

Kraken provides various methods to generate returns on cash and crypto holders, allowing users to earn rewards on assets that might otherwise be sitting unused in their Kraken account (funds not currently used for trading, for example). Details of Kraken's earn products, and an overview of eligibility can be found in our support articles.

Our REST API provides several endpoints that allow users to interact with our earn product:

  • •

Retrieve a list of earn strategies

  • •

    List all current allocations

  • •

    Allocate and deallocate funds

  • •

Get status of allocations and deallocations

API keys must include earn permissions, to interact with the product. Please make sure that funds query, and earn endpoints are permissioned for the API keys.

Manage staking positions programmatically

If you manage a large balance across several assets, you can run the full staking lifecycle through the REST API instead of the app. Create an API key with earn permissions, then use the endpoints described on this page to move funds in and out of earn strategies and to check where each allocation stands.

A typical workflow follows these steps:

  • •

Retrieve the list of earn strategies to see the strategies available to your account.

  • •

Allocate funds to the strategy you choose.

  • •

Get the status of the allocation to confirm the request has completed.

  • •

List all current allocations to review your open positions.

  • •

Deallocate funds when you want to exit, and get the status of the deallocation to confirm it has completed.

Before you start

Keep API keys limited to the permissions they need. Earn permissions are required to interact with this product. Check the details of each strategy before allocating, because commission, minimums and unbonding terms can differ by asset.
