How to enable app links and universal links on mobile devices

To ensure a smoother and more secure experience with the Kraken mobile app, we recommend enabling App Links (Android) or Universal Links (iOS). This allows Kraken links to open directly in the app instead of a mobile browser—especially important for login flows such as password resets.

    Tap the Settings app from your home screen or app drawer. Scroll down and tap Apps (or Apps).

    In the list of apps, scroll until you see your Kraken app. Tap on it to open the app’s settings.

    Once you’re on the app screen, look for an option called Open by default. On some phones, you might see App Links directly. Tap on the option to manage how links are opened.

    Look for Open supported links. This could be a toggle or dropdown menu. Turn it ON or select the option that says Open in this app instead of opening in the browser or asking every time.

    To verify the change, open the app. Go to Sign in → Forgot password, then complete the forgot password flow. In the email you receive, tap Create new password and verify it opens directly in the app.

    Note: There’s no need to actually reset your password for this test.
  • If links still open in the browser, double-check your settings.

  • Try restarting your phone after updating settings.

  • Menu names may vary slightly depending on your device model and Android version. Look for similar terms if the exact labels aren’t visible.

    Open the Kraken app. Go to Sign in → Forgot password, then complete the forgot password flow. In the email, tap Create new password to test if the link opens in the Kraken app.

    If the link opens in your browser, Universal Links are not yet enabled.

    Long-press the Create new password link in the email until a menu appears. Select Open in App or Open in Kraken. Test the link again using Step 1.

    Tap and hold the Kraken app icon on your home screen. Select Delete App or Uninstall. Reinstall the Kraken app via the App Store. Restart your device and retest using Step 1.

    Open Settings > Safari. Tap Clear History and Website Data.

    Note: This will sign you out of websites and delete your browsing history.
