  • Your Kraken account must be verified to the Intermediate or Pro level.

  • Access to this service is based on the phone device/model as well as the countries supported by Apple Pay and Google Pay, which is not related to the verified country of residence with Kraken.

  • You must hold either a Visa or Mastercard in the same legal name as your Kraken account. No other card brands are supported at this time.

  • For US clients only debit cards are supported at this time.

Please review the list of supported countries provided by Apple Pay and Google Pay to confirm if this service will be available to you.

Limits for digital wallet purchases are dynamic and may adjust over time with continued product usage. In most cases, this means that your limits will increase the more that you use Kraken, but in some cases your limits may also decrease. Limits are determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to: how long you’ve had a Kraken account, your payment method, country of residence, and your transaction activity. Limits reset on a rolling weekly basis and cannot be increased by reaching out to client support. If you reach your limit for card and digital wallet purchases, we recommend depositing funds with a different payment method until your weekly limit resets.

The table below provides a range of possible limits for digital wallet purchases. Please refer to your account settings page for the limits applicable to your account.

Digital wallet purchase fees:

  • There are no hidden or additional fees and the total value shown on the Confirmation page is what Kraken will charge to your wallet.

Digital wallet transaction limits:

  • Each transaction has a minimum purchase amount.

  • There is a maximum spending amount within a time-based seven day rolling period. This limit is combined with Visa and Mastercard purchases.

  • Purchase amounts count towards your daily and monthly funding limits.

  • Depending on your card issuers policy, they may charge additional fees for cash advance or online card purchases. Bank charges for credit card payments or international transaction fees are independent from Kraken’s fee and are outside of our control.

  • The default cash currency is pre-determined on your verified country of residence.

  • Residents of the United States will be able to purchase using debit cards, but credit cards are not supported at this time.

  • Digital wallet purchases are available from within the Kraken App. A limited number of users may also find this payment method available via Kraken.com, and we are planning on expanding this service to additional users soon.

Withdrawals to digital wallets (i.e. Apple Pay or Google Pay) are not supported.

  • As a security precaution we may limit the number of transactions allowed per day.

To connect your card, you will first need to do this within Apple Pay / Google Pay. Once the card is connected, you will be able to access it when making a purchase on the Kraken app.

There are a number of reasons why a transaction could fail:

  • The app was either closed or refreshed before the crypto order could complete.

  • Your card issuer does not allow crypto-related transactions.

  • Website or API connectivity issues.

  • Adverse market volatility, meaning we're unable to lock down a price.

This list is not exhaustive, so please contact our support team if your purchases continue to fail.

If your card was charged but you did not immediately receive your crypto assets, the transaction will automatically be voided by Kraken within two hours. Voided transactions will typically disappear from your card statement within 24 hours, but this depends on your bank's policies. Please contact your card issuer (typically via a phone number provided on your card) if the transaction remains pending for longer than expected.

If Apple Pay / Google Pay is not provided as a payment method on our app, please review the support articles provided by Apple and Google for troubleshooting tips:
