X Cashtags

Kraken is an official X Cashtag launch partner in the US. When you see a crypto asset being discussed on X, you can tap its cashtag and continue straight to Kraken to buy it.

What is a cashtag?

A cashtag is an asset’s ticker symbol with a dollar sign in front of it, such as $XRP. On X, tapping a cashtag opens a page with the latest posts and a price chart for that asset.

How to buy an asset from a cashtag on X

    On X, tap a cashtag, such as $XRP, in a post or in your search results.

    Review the posts and price chart X shows for the asset.

    Tap the button that continues to Kraken. X labels this button “Trade”.

    Log in to your Kraken account, or sign up if you are new to Kraken.

    Complete your purchase on Kraken.

Where you land depends on your device and whether you already use Kraken.

Frequently asked questions

You can use cashtags for the assets available on Kraken, which is more than 2,400 across our centralized and decentralized exchange offerings. This includes Robinhood Chain and Solana tokens, as well as major assets such as $XRP.

If a cashtag is for an asset Kraken does not offer, or that is not available in your region, you will not be able to buy it on Kraken through this route.

Yes. If you already have a Kraken account, log in when prompted. If you are new to Kraken, you can create an account when you tap through from X. You may need to complete identity verification and fund your account before you can buy.

No. If the app is installed, it opens on the asset you selected. If not, you can sign up, log in and buy on the Kraken website.

Some of the assets you find through cashtags, including Robinhood Chain and Solana tokens, are bought through our decentralized exchange (DEX) offering. These purchases work differently from assets on our centralized exchange.
