Fund your DEX Trading wallet

Before you can trade onchain assets in DEX Trading on Kraken Pro, you'll need to fund your DEX Trading wallet. You fund it directly from your existing Kraken USDC balance, with no new wallet to create, no seed phrase to save, and no bridging to manage.

How funding works

Your DEX Trading wallet is a self-custodial embedded wallet, meaning you own the keys and Kraken never holds them. To add funds, you move USDC from your Kraken balance into the DEX Trading wallet.

Two things make this simple:

  • Zero transfer fees. Moving USDC from your Kraken balance to your DEX Trading wallet carries no transfer fee.
  • No gas top-ups. Swaps are gasless, so you don't need to hold a separate token to cover gas.

Fund your wallet

  1. Open DEX Trading in Kraken Pro on the web by hovering over the Trade button in the left-hand panel, then selecting DEX.
  2. In the top-right corner of the DEX Trading page, click Transfer.
  3. Select whether you want to Transfer USDC or Convert and transfer. If you already have USDC in your account balance, you can transfer it instantly and for free to your DEX Trading wallet. Otherwise, you will need to convert other assets to USDC, which may incur a 1.5% conversion fee.
  4. After selecting your transfer method, enter the amount of USDC you'd like to fund your DEX Trading wallet with, then click Review transfer.
  5. If you are satisfied with the funding amount (and conversion if needed), click Confirm.
  6. If you have Funding 2FA enabled, you will need to enter it to complete the transfer.

Your USDC will move into your DEX Trading wallet, and you'll be ready to trade.

Good to know

  • You only pay per swap. There are no transfer fees to fund the wallet. When you trade, a single transparent 100 bps (1%) fee is applied per swap and is already factored into the quote you see.
  • 1.5% conversion fees may apply if you use the Convert and transfer funding method.
  • DEX Trading is web-only.
