Deposit crypto from another exchange directly within Kraken

Last updated: August 6, 2026

You can now fund your Kraken account by moving crypto directly from another exchange or wallet, without copying and pasting a deposit address. This option is powered by our partner, Mesh.

When you deposit crypto the traditional way, you copy a deposit address from Kraken and paste it into the platform you are sending from. Depositing through a connected exchange removes that step: you connect your account on another exchange from inside Kraken, choose what to send, and confirm. The crypto is then sent on-chain to your Kraken deposit address and credited to your balance like any other crypto deposit.

Mesh securely handles the connection to the other platform, including login and any two-factor checks. Kraken never sees or stores your password for the other platform.

  • A verified Kraken account.

  • An account on a supported exchange or wallet that holds the crypto you want to deposit.

  • This option is currently available on the Kraken Website. Mobile is coming soon.

At launch you can connect:

  • Binance

  • Coinbase

The list of available platforms continues to grow over time. If your exchange is not listed, you can still deposit crypto using a standard wallet-address deposit.

  1. Sign in to your Kraken account and go to Deposit (funding).

  2. Select crypto, then choose the asset and network you want to deposit.

  3. At the Deposit from screen, select Another exchange.

  4. In the secure Mesh window, select the exchange you want to send from and sign in to that account. Some platforms (for example Coinbase) open their own login window for security; this is expected.

  5. Choose the amount to deposit and review the details. If you do not hold enough of the selected token, Mesh can top up the difference from your other balances on that exchange (see SmartFunding in the FAQ below).

  6. Confirm the transfer. The crypto is sent on-chain to your Kraken deposit address.

  7. You will see a confirmation that the transfer has started. You can close the window, the deposit continues in the background.

The deposit arrives as a normal on-chain transfer and is credited once it has the required number of network confirmations, the same as any other crypto deposit on that network. You can track it in your Kraken deposit history.

  • Kraken does not charge a fee to deposit crypto.

  • The exchange or wallet you send from may charge its own withdrawal and/or network (gas) fee. That fee is set by that platform, not by Kraken.

  • If you close the window or cancel, no transfer is started and no funds move.

  • If the connection to the other exchange fails, you can deposit using a standard wallet-address deposit instead.

  • Any deposit below the minimum amount set for that network will not be credited. Make sure you send at or above the displayed minimum.

  • If a deposit does not arrive as expected, contact Kraken Support with the asset, network, amount, and the source exchange.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The connection works on the same model as services like Plaid: Mesh handles the secure login to the other platform, and your credentials for that platform are never shared with Kraken.

Most major assets and stablecoins on their main networks are supported (for example BTC, ETH, SOL, USDT and USDC on their primary chains). The exact assets available depend on the exchange you connect from and the network you choose.

Thanks to SmartFunding you can still deposit the full amount you want. If your balance of the chosen token on the connected exchange is not enough, Mesh can automatically convert some of your other holdings on that exchange into the token you are depositing, so you can send the full amount in one step. For example, if you want to deposit 10,000 USDC but only hold 7,000 USDC, Mesh can sell around 3,000 USD worth of your other assets on that exchange to make up the difference. The conversion happens on the connected exchange, so that exchange's trading or conversion fees may apply.

You authorize the transfer inside the Kraken flow. You may need to complete that platform's normal login and security checks.
